Privacy Policy

Wren · Last updated September 2026

Wren is a personal, self-hosted household assistant. It is built, operated, and run entirely by one individual for the private use of a single household. It is not a public product, has no public signup, and no data it handles is sold, rented, or shared with advertisers or any third party.

What this app is

Wren runs on infrastructure the operator personally owns and controls. It is used only by members of one household, each of whom is individually invited and known to the operator. There are no other users.

Google data this app accesses

When a household member connects their Google account, Wren requests only the following, and only for that person's own account:

If Gmail access is enabled for a household member, Wren additionally requests:

Wren's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How this data is used and stored

Data retrieved from a connected Google account is used only to provide the specific feature the household member requested (showing their calendar, adding an event they asked for, answering a question about their email). A small local copy of upcoming calendar events is kept so the assistant can answer questions without a live call to Google every time; this copy is refreshed roughly daily and never shared outside the household's own system.

Access tokens are stored on the operator's own private server, are never exposed to a browser or to any other household member, and are used only to make the specific API calls described above.

No data from this app is used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the features described here.

Disconnecting and data deletion

Any household member can disconnect their Google account at any time from within the app. Disconnecting immediately stops all further access and deletes the stored access credentials. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions page at any time, independent of this app.

Security

All communication with Google's APIs happens over HTTPS. Stored credentials are kept on infrastructure the operator directly controls and are not accessible to anyone outside the household.

Changes to this policy

If how this app uses data changes meaningfully, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
